Glimmers of spring sprout all around us. The season of Eastertide is here, and we celebrate Christ’s resurrection. For some, though, the springtime months are also marked with grief. Loss and heartache are fresh and close. Wherever you find yourself this season, join us as we continue to explore the theme of grief—in all its multi-faceted forms. Here is Tiffani’s contribution:
Grief in the Hole
Grief is an old man’s wallet bulging in my back pocket. Day after day, I carry it everywhere. Coming undone it overflows. I try to hold it together with a rubber band. I slip it in and out of my pocket. A hole forms, and there, too, grief in the holy gap between what is and Reality. Like an old man’s wallet, grief gives off a stench that suffuses my days–a constant companion. Will I clutch it to myself forever?
